The Santa Catharina church dates back to the 17th century and has been declared a National Monument. Since 1835 and until now, the Santa Catharina church is a parish church. Nevertheless, the Santa Catharina church stands inconspicuously between a number of terraced houses.

The Santa Catharina church is one of the most representative examples of the Portuguese Baroque style. The carvings, plasterwork and painting rings are harmoniously combined. The interior is one and all gilding, with also a remarkably painted and plastered ceiling in rococo style. The organ is made of gilded carvings. The monumental altar is made of remarkable carvings, dating back to the 17th century. Etc.
