The island of Long Caye in Belize is a tropical island in the Caribbean Sea located in the Lighthouse Reef. Long Caye is located 78km west of the mainland of Belize City and is completely dense with palm trees and mangrove forests. Here and there small sandy roads have been laid out and the mangroves are usually bridged by wooden scaffolding. In terms of animals, there are different types of birds, lizards, iguanas (who dare to peck our sandals if we do not throw them in a closed box), blue and red land crabs, etc. According to some inhabitants of the island there would also be saltwater crocodiles. Unfortunately, we did not find these saltwater crocodiles anywhere in the mangrove lakes during our stay on Long Caye.

The island of Long Caye is an ideal base for diving. In the area of 10 minutes you have several very good dive sites. Long Caye is only 14km from the Blue Hole, which is a very special dive site.
